How is Amica Auto Insurance?

Looking to switch my existing insurance. Got a good quote with Amica. Does anyone have this auto Insurance?

carinsurance.yoll.net - I switched to this car insurance from them, cause it gives much cheaper rates in my area.

I don't have it, but it's consistently one of the highes-rated companies in the country. I got a quote from their web page, but my company, which is rated very close to Amica, was 25 percent lower. Go for it--it seems to be among the best.

Amica is a GREAT company. I don't have them, and I've never worked for them, but they are fast to pay claims.

But if you have claims, they're also fast to drop you.

I too got a flier some time ago.. was wondering how is it .. never heard of it though

Getting A Quote For Auto Insurance.?

I am looking around for auto insurance and they ask if you have accidents and/or violations. I have had 3 accidents (only 1 was my fault) and 1 violation in the past 3 years, but they are not on my MVR, would I still have to put it down?

Even if they arent on your MVR if an insurance company has paid anything out on them they will still count & the insurance company can probably see them in their system. But if you had a wreck that no insurance company knew about & no police showed up, then no you wouldnt have to tell them & they wont show up.

Withholding information is a form of insurance fraud and it's a morale hazard. Insurance companies do not like this....

There should be a drop down for NAF accident (Not at fault accident). Use that selection for the accidents that were not your fault. As for your violation, if it's not showing on your MVR because you completed the defensive driving course then don't list the citation. If you didn't complete the driving course then you do need to list the violation, unless it's a non-moving violation (i.e. parking ticket, etc.)

Don't try to defraud an insurance company to get a cheaper rate. You'll find yourself without insurance when you need it most

Yes you should never fail to disclose anything as it might come back to bite you should they be forced to pay out.

For a quote, these are good as they'll search a bunch of carriers who will be competing one another for price

http://www.quick-car-insurance-comparison.simplyinsurancequotes.com?ccg

it's free and quick to do, if it helps remember my points please :)

car-insurance.66ghz.com - check these plans. As I know their rates for bad driving record is not such expensive as from other companies.

Can you please give me tips and things 2 consider when buying auto insurance?

Well i got diff. quotes from diff. companies. I have a 2007 car. I filled the online auto quote and there is a lot of stuff to chose from.

Can you list the" MUST HAVE " things.

I'm a student so i'm looking at the cheapest i can get with more benefits.

This does not have anything with divorce...i Know that & thank you!! I figured that i would get lot of advice here. So pls chill!!!

The must have is Uninsured Motorists coverage. If you need to get full coverage, take a $500.00 deductible. You might want emergency road service, its usually not very much to add on. That is the main thing you want, even if your just getting liability, you need the Uninsured Motorists!

Try Geico, they are usually the best, and cheapest, and very dependable service. Hope you get the best you can.

wrong category honey. But anyways, if you call around, you can talk to the different companies about what the "must" is. My suggestion when choosing who to go with, is go with the one that you feel talks to you like you actually matter instead of talking to you like ****!!! i tried "the general" insurance and i HATED it because they paid me absolutely no attn and got all of our information( last names, address, and even our car vin numbers) you get what i'm saying? good luck. sorry i couldn't be much help...

Will paying your auto insurance in a timely manner bring up your credit score?

ok i just turned 18, recently got my own car insurance. I would like to know, if your auto insurance would bring up your credit score or seeing that I have no credit, add to it? I know that some companies are checking credit before giving a quote, but i dont know if it would in any way help your credit.

Thanks

No things like car insurance, rent, utilities, cell phones and gym memberships do not report to the credit bureaus unless you do not pay them.

The reason is they are not considered loans.

While it's a good idea to pay all your bills in a timely manner, things like your insurance, rent, utilities, etc don't report timely payment to the credit bureaus and don't impact your credit score.

Insurers do not report to credit bureaus because they are not lenders. If you don't pay your premiums, they will just cancel your policy.

No. They don't report it to the credit bureaus.

They check your credit because there's a correlation between good credit and good drivers / bad credit and bad drivers. Bad credit=irresponsiblity

Unitrin Direct Auto Insurance (Any good?)?

Asked by: hyphenga-ga

I recently responded to an e-mail for a free auto insurance price quote (I'm in California). I wasn't really looking to shop around - and wasn't planning to switch companies to save a buck or two, but I was kinda shocked when the price quote I got from Unitrin Direct (same coverage limits and deductibles) was $510 less than I'm paying now. I called and asked what the catch was and they said they sell direct with no

agents/offices and pass the savings onto the customer (logical, but obviously scripted answer). They also touted an A.M. Best "Excellent" rating, but what good is financial stability if they bungle claims (for example) or have terrible customer service? So I guess I'm looking for a little confidence - or a big fat warning - before I jump into anything. Are they reputable? Is there any objective info available about them? (I'd love any good/bad comments from Unitrin customers out there too.)

OK, well, they're A rated, not A+, so they're good.

Your REAL problem comes when you have questions or claims. See, you're acting as your OWN AGENT. You have to pick your own coverages, and give yourself your own professional advice. Risky, if you don't know what you're doing.

That is NOT going to save you as much money as you think. I strongly suspect that if you called a few insurance companies in your area, you'd find out that there are companies WITH AGENTS that would work for you, with premiums around what Unitrin is quoting you.

Even I, an insurance agent with GOBS of experience, have my personal insurance through ANOTHER agent (that I don't work with).

I woulden't do it. Like you said, AM Best rating doesen't mean they will pay off well on claims. If you go without an agent, go with Progressive or Geico, preferably Progressive. I have always had good luck with selling it.

What factors are considered for auto insurance?

I am trying to get an auto insurance. But when i went to an agent to get a quote, he told me that since i wasn't on somebody's policy for 3 years, my premium is going to be much more higher.

But I have had an license for more than 3 years but just was not on my parents policy because of high insurance premium.

So my question is what is considered

1. i need license for 3 years

2. i need to be on someone else's policy for 3 years.

Insurance companies use statistics to set rates. It is a statistical fact that people that have not had insurance will have a higher chance of getting into an accident so therefore they'll charge you more. They also look at how long you've been driving but the no insurance weighs more on the premium than experience. People that have been driving for 40 years also pay more if they have not had insurance.

Since you have not been on a policy you have been driving illegally for the last three years. You are lucky that you have not had an accident or been stopped by the police. People ask questions here often about what they should do because they just had an accident with no insurance.

Will be be going on your parents policy now? Do you still live at home?

I believe the agent said the premiums would be higher than your parents is because they have been with that company a while and get a 3 yr loyalty discount and if you come in on your own you will not get that discount. If you are added to your parents household then you would get that discount too. But if you add your car at a different address then you would not get their loyalty discount.

If possible go on your parents policy now. And, rates and discounts vary by company and state. Call your agent back and ask him about the loyalty discount.

Factors include, as you realize, having prior insurance IN YOUR NAME. Regardless of whether you were listed on another policy, this is the first one in your name, so the rate would be higher. Also, garaging address, where you live; how old you are; how long you've been licensed; your driving history; your claims history; your credit score; what kind of car you're driving; which coverages you have on that car. Hmm. I think I got them all.

I'm shopping for Auto Insurance can you help?

Can anyone tell me their experience with GEICO insurance. I'm shopping for auto insurance and they have the better quote so far. I've got quotes from State Farm and Allstate. Thanks...

Why GEICO?? Are you infatuated by the caveman or gekko?? We save people money on their GEICO policies all the time......

There is no ONE insurance company that is right for everyone - everyone is rated individually - and all companies have different "likes and dis-likes", different credit tiers, different business models, and many other factors that can vary your rate - and a QUOTE is ONLY a quote until the policy is issued.

Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent or broker. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.

In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with "less than perfect" driving records and specialize in youthful operators!

Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

geico is a decent company but i didnt sell their policies so i dont have first hand knowledge. i used to work for a company that had 10 auto insurance carriers . the lowest prices always varied from company to company and state to state. ambest is an independant company that rates all these companys if you want to check on them

People fall for the advertising of great rates by these companies that pound the media like GEICO.

Having delt with 2 serious accident cases in the last 14 years, I would recommend State Farm. I have them now.

Cheaper rates doesn't mean you'll get the service you deserve if you ever have a claim and need a company with a backbone.

Those "Good Hands People" had no hands the 1st time I was hit by an uninsured driver and left my vehicle a mess. Never again.

I have reservations about using GEICO....something just doesn't seem right......

I'll stay with State Farm for now......it costs me probably a little more, but service has been good.

The best way to get the BEST rates is to keep your credit score on the highest side possible.......

You can save 15 or more % on car insurance by switching to Geico

geico is great they are open 24/7 and have live agents, I hate that automated system agggh

I love geico, i have them for a long time, i am pleased with them

Go with Geico.

Raise Auto Insurance Rates, After given a Quote

I have recently had an accident where i was ruled at fault. My auto insurance went up so i decided to get quotes on line to find a better company for my insurance. My question is, if i were to go with a company that gave me a on line quote, knowing of my accident, is there any way they could raise my rates later because of the known incident? Thanks.

yes, and it probably will. they don't do an MVR or CLUE search and do not pull credit on these sites. I have people everyday come in my office upset that they got a quote and it came in higher. go to a local agent in your area. they will be able to give you an ACCURATE quote. its always good to have a local agent so if and when you need help there is an actual person who is familiar with your file and needs.

When you actually purchase the policy, chances are they will run your driving record. Based on that, if there are any violations or accidents that were not initially rated on your premiums, the company will adjust your rates accordingly.

And remember, what you received online is just a Quote, an estimate of what it will cost, its not set in stone that that will be your final cost for insurance.

Is Western General auto insurance any good?

I got a quote from survival for auto insurance that was better than most others. The company who is insuring me is western general. I never heard of this company and am a bit worried about how they handle accidents. Are anyone else insured by Western General? If so how are they and how do you rate them?

If they're cheap, I'd take it. Go with the cheapest company

Insurance companies all like to paint a rosy picture about how they handle accidents and how helpful and friendly they are in their commercials, but it's all BS.

It's the insurance adjuster's job to try to pay you as little money as possible and to slap at least part of the blame on you so your rate can be raised.

How Good Is Erie Insurance?

I have been looking around for both homeowners and auto insurance quotes in Illinois. One of the best quotes I have received is from Erie Insurance. I would just like to hear from anyone who has had any experiences - good or bad - from dealing with Erie and just generally how people would rate them.

I am aware that they are ranked highly on JD Power's website, but I am just more interested in people's personal experiences with the company. Thanks for your help!

I have worked as an independent claims adjuster for Erie before. They seemed very professional and reasonable in their claims practice.

I would recommend them with no hesitation.

I've had Erie Insurance my entire life, and I think they are fantastic. We have our auto, home and life insurance through them. My agent comes to our house and explains things clearly, takes all the time we need. We received some quotes when my husband and I were married, and Erie was providing more protection for less money. I've had a few auto claims over the years, and they were handled easily. Great personal touch, I recommend them.

Check out this article i found http://www.youbigg.com/Car-Insurance.html it has details on different types of plans and information. It always has info on what your asking.

seems good

good, but there is cheaper

Since homeowner and auto policies are usually standard forms issued by the Insurance Services Office, the main determinant of an insurance company should be its financial strength,

Several companies, such as AM Best rate insurance companies. Go for a company with an A or better rating.

Claims experiences vary among customers. While it would be nice if your insurance company was always nice, this is not the way to pick a good insurer.

Allstate used to have a horrible reputation with third parties making claims against it, but in the long run this made them very popular with their policy holders since this attitude kept premiums low.

Erie is GREAT!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I'm sorry I moved out of their area. I've never been an Erie agent, but got great service FROM my Erie agent (and I"m a tough customer!). I had them with an auto claim, and they did a super job.

I love them SO much, I got my folks to switch THEIR insurance from State FArm to Erie. The pricing is fantastic, the service is out of this world, even the claims service.

How do i get a quote online for auto insurance? (but i only want half coverage and i live in canada?

Try getting an online insurance quote It's free and quick to do. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Insurance.html

Hope it works out

I have no idea what "half coverage" means, and I am a retired insurance broker with many years experience.

Please post which province you live in, as what is available on-line, and where you look for it, is not the same in every jurisdiction.

Edit Oct 31:

So it sounds like you are asking for liability coverage only, no coverage on your own car. Whether that is even available is till dependent on where you live. In Manitoba for instance, it can't be split off, your minimum policy is $200,000 tpl, $500 deductible comprehensive/collision/upset, and Personal Injury Protection Plan, injury claims are all no-fault settlement.

So, I ask again, where do you live? Canada is a huge country.

You get a quote by finding an independent agent, giving him your information, and letting his search his data base for a good match for you.

But, there is no such thing as "half coverage".

I would like to suggest you get as much information as you could before taking action, here http://www.insuranceidea.info/free-insurance.htm is a good place for that.

Do auto insurance companies run a credit check for a quote in the state of california?

i just got motorcycle insurance and they didnt run my credit they gave me a policy just based on my driving history. Is this going to be the same when i get a new vehicle and if so is it because its different policies for the state of california?

I suggest you locate a local car insurance agent to help. Since I live in North Dakota I can't recommend anyone in California, but here is an website that can help you. http://www.easyautoinsuranceguide.com/California-Car-Insurance.html

Good Luck.

I've never had my credit run when getting an auto insurance policy. I doubt most companies find it necessary since the premiums are paid up front at the start of the policy and at the time of each renewal.

I heard somewhere there was a ballot initiative in California which banned this practice. Sorry I wasn't able to find a source for this.

autoinsurance.maclenet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

Can somebody please explain to me why some auto insurance companies are so cheap while most are outrageous?

I just got a new car and i've been getting some quotes. I have no auto accidents and no tickets in the past 7 years. Why are alot of companies so ridiculous and some reasonable? I've noticed that the main ones like Geico, Allstate, Progressive are the high ones while the little businesses are the cheapest.

It has to do with loss experience. The companies that have to pay out more losses have higher rates. Progressive will take anyone with any driving record. The smaller companies tend to be more selective, they only want people with clean driving records, they tend to not take younger drivers on their own (will only take them if they are on their parent's policy). It could also be that some of the smaller companies do not credit score yet. If your credit score is not great, this could be a factor too.

Before you purchase your policy, check on ambest.com & see the company's rating. If the company is rated A- or better, go for it. If they are any lower, don't. Usually, the smaller companies work with independent agents & you have an advantage there too. They represent more than one company and if you have a problem with one, they will have another. Also, they can help you with changes, insurance advice & claims.

Auto insurance adjuster -the assessment is too low - what do I do now?

I was in a crash where I was rear-ended last week. The car behind me was held responsible, their insurance will pay. But - I was told by their insurance, which is AllState, to take my car in to an AllState adjuster's office to have it looked at. The car is dangerous to drive, one whole light assembly is broken at the back, but I did drive it to his office. Then the adjuster told me the damage would cost $1500 to mend, and gave me a written sheet with details on it. He told me to give this to any auto body repair shop of my choice. I had already got one quote from an auto shop - they said $2500. What should I do? I am worried that the quote is really low from the adjuster, and no body shop would do the work for that little. Should I do as the adjuster wanted, and give his quote sheet to another autobody shop, and get them to quote based on that - or should I not mention the adjuster's quote, and get more quotes without it?I just have this instinct that AllState are trying to rip me off!

Directly from Allstate.com:

What happens if my repair shop find additional damage?

If you have selected a Sterling Autobody Center™ or Priority Repair Option (PRO) shop to repair your vehicle, additional damages discovered during the repair process will be handled directly with Allstate. If you’ve chosen not to use a Sterling Autobody Center™ or PRO shop, your repair shop should contact the claim representative who wrote the original repair estimate so additional damage can be taken care of. If, however, the shop contacts you directly, please call your Allstate claim representative about additional damages and costs.

On a personal note, I was in an accident with someone who had Allstate. I took my vehicle to the drive in Allstate center in my area & they estimated $450 - even though the real cost was around $1500. I think they do this because a percentage of people just cash the check & don't get anything fixed. But, in my case, I took it to the shop & they negotiated with Allstate and ended up paying $1500. So, just take it to the shop & they will take care of it for you.

Take Care,

Take your vehicle to any body shop you choose, give them the estimate Allstate wrote and let them fix your car. (did you ever think that maybe the estimate from the shop is too HIGH?). If the shop can show the insurance company additional damage or needed repairs they will pay you.

Kick the adjuster in the balls.......... see if he still views things the same way then.

Ask Allstate to recommend a shop. If you are comfortable with that shop, go there. Otherwise, get 3 quotes from 3 different shops. If they are higher than the adjuster's, tell him and request he restate his estimate. Adjusters and shops use the same books to calculate the cost. Either he is low because he missed something, or your shop is high. Either way you need at least 3 estimates to decide. Make sure the shop is aware it is an insurance quote. If it turns out he is low, call his regional supervisor and complain. Your agent should help you. It may be he is an Estimator and not an Adjuster. I had that happen and after putting $2500 in parts into the car, it had to be totaled. DO NOT sign off on repairs until they agree to pay the entire cost. If you can, get your agent involved. If he won't help, let him know you will be shopping around for a new agent!

You should take it to any shop of your choice, and give them the paper Allstate gave you. If there is any problem the shop will work it out with Allstate. You don't need to get 3 estimates, in fact you don't need to get any estimates, just take it in and get it fixed.

The shop's estimate is too high. Just take the insurance estimate to your shop and ask them to do the repairs for that amount. Most of the time the shop charges higher labor prices and sometimes they write it for replacement of items that only need to be repaired. There is a myriad of reasons for the difference. Once the car is in the shop, if the shop finds damage that was not on the estimate they will contact the adjuster about a supplemental payment. Don't panic. This happens a lot. Customers go get estimates first that they don't need to get and then the insurance estimate is less. It's common, but won't be a huge thing.

Question regarding auto insurance age of first US licence?

Hi:

I went to an agent today to quote my auto insurance, and the result was cheaper than I did it online; however, she told me the reason why it was cheaper was because that she put 2000 as my first received U.S. driver licence, but I actually received it at 2004, so will this become a problem with my auto insurance since she said there will be no problem? I bought it eventually...but curious about it.

p.s. the insurer company is big...

There may not be a problem with it, and it may save you money, but do you want to be associated with an agent that will defraud the company she works for? How can you possibly believe anything she tells you now?

What is the bare minimum for full coverage auto insurance?

I live in Idaho. I have not yet payed off the auto loan so I'm required to have full coverage insurance. According to some people I am paying too much (about 700 for 6 months), as they are paying far less. I have geico, but from time to time I look around and get quotes, and it is always slightly higher than what I have now. However, that might be because I am opting for coverage I might not need.

So the question boils down to, what is the bare minimum requirements for "full coverage" auto insurance in Idaho?

Victor B has a great answer. All I would add is that you should ask your finance company what exactly they mean by "full coverage." As Victor alluded to, "full coverage" is not any kind of set standard for the insurance industry. It just means liability + comp/collision. But, the sticking point here is that you need to know exactly what your finance company wants to make it "full." The factors here you need to know are:

A. What does my deductible on comp and collision need to be? (Deductible is how much you pay in the event of an claim before your insurance company begins to pay. Your finance company usually wants your deductible to be LOW, but that means that your premiums are more expensive -- because the lower your premium is, the more the insurance company is going to pay in the event of a claim. Usually, people who are trying to save money try and raise their deductible to something like $1000 -- which is basically a gamble. You're gambling that you won't get into an accident and won't ever have to pay it. If you have some wiggle room, go higher on collision and lower on comprehensive. i.e.- $1000 on collision, and $250 or $500 on comp. Comp covers things like window breakage, theft of vehicle, hitting a deer, etc, and as such will TEND -- not always, as in the case of theft -- to be smaller claims. Thus, you'd want your deductible to be lower so that insurance kicks in and actually pays something.)

B. What do my liability limits need to be? (Liability is what the insurance company pays to someone else in the event of an accident. So if you hit someone and injure the driver and total the vehicle, your insurance company pays out of the liability coverage to the other person. You want these numbers to be HIGHER because it will cover more liability, but of course this means your premium will go up. Liability comes in three numbers -- usually, depending on your state it may only be two or one. But if there are three, then the first number represents what your insurance company will pay to EACH PERSON in an accident that you have liability towards. The second number represents the "cap" of what your insurance company would pay in total to other people you have liability towards. And the third number represents damage to property. Thus, a common liability set would be: 50/100/50, meaning your insurance company would pay up to $50k per person, but no more than $100k to any group of people, and $50k for property damage. Alternatively, it's possible you may have a simple "single liability" number like $300k, which just means that your company will pay out whatever liability is owed up to $300k. KEEP IN MIND that these numbers represent LIMITS. So, if you have an accident where you cause more damage than the liability provided, YOU will end up being sued by the other parties for the remaining amount of liability. Consider this situation: you fall asleep at the wheel and cross a median, totaling a $75k Mercedes and badly injuring its driver. Her total medical costs are $150k. If you have 50/100/50, you will end up owing her -- assuming a civil suit against you grants her just the costs and no more -- $100k in medical costs and $25k for her vehicle. This is because insurance only covered $50k in medical liability to a single person and $50k on her property.)

Being that your finance company is the one who is saying you're required to have full coverage insurance, it's important you ask them what it is they want so that there's no breach of contract if your vehicle is totaled. Generally, finance/purchase contracts require lower liability limits and higher deductibles, while something like a lease is going to require high liability limits and low deductibles.

If you're concerned about getting lower cost insurance, one tip I have is to consolidate all your insurance into one company and get a multi-line discount. For example: call a major insurer and offer the salesperson to get auto insurance and renters/homeowners insurance, life insurance, etc. all with them and ask what the discount will be. (You should have all these products anyway, so if you can get a better deal than you're already getting on all of these products with one company, then why not do so?)

Also: remember that your credit and driving record affects your premiums. Get your credit score UP UP UP and stop speeding. Watch your premiums drop :)

I'll have to say, those "people" who offer comments don't know what they are talking about, the reason as as follows:

* insurance premium depends on a LOT of factors, such as location, type of car, specific model of car, engine size, classification, driver's age and gender, driver's profession, estimated mileage per year, prior driving record, and so on. Just because THEY are paying less than you doesn't necessarily mean you are paying too much.

* EXAMPLE: I just switched from a '96 Ford Contour 2.5L V6 to a '99 Olds Cutlass 3.1 V6. Despite the newer car, my insurance premium actually DROPPED, because the smaller Contour is considered a sporty car, and the Olds is NOT.

* There's no such thing as "full coverage". You are required to carry "collision coverage", which means that even if you banged up the car (i.e. your fault) the car will still get fixed (or someone will pay for the damages, so the bank who loan you money for the car will have SOME recourse in case something happens).

There are additional coverages that are optional or required, such as physical proertpy damage, medical damage, uninsured/underinsured coverage, comprehensive damage (covers natural disasters, vandalism, theft, etc, separate from collission), rental car (when your car is in the shop), and more.

Most states require physical property and medical damage, commonly called "liability", which means your insurance will pay the other party if you are at fault. Minimum amounts are required, though most people buy significantly more in case damages exceed their coverage. Remember, insurance only pay up to your coverage, and not a penny more.

Have your insurance agent compare the premiums for different coverage amounts, different cars, different driver combinations (if you have more than one vehicle and more than one driver) to arrive at the minimum premium. If you are only paying a few more dollars a month to enjoy the extra coverage, then I'd say it's worth it for the peace of mind. Of course, only YOU can decide if you rather save those dollars now, vs. the risk fo paying out big bundle later.

you forgot to include age, driving record, and type of vehicle. Those are contributing factors when pricing policies.

When the lender requires "full coverage" on a vehicle it simply means that in the event of a loss the coverage must be enough to pay the balance due on the loan. Normally it would consist of collision coverage as well as the state minimums for liability. While coverage for theft, comprehensive , and other perils are normally a good idea they are not mandatory. But bear in mind in the event of a loss you will be held responsible to pay.

Can my auto insurance company place a claim on my record by simply calling to ask a question?

I was in my boyfriend's truck and backed into our garage door. I called my auto ins. to ask if I needed to make a claim or if he did since it was his truck. They said he should, and he did. I recently was getting ins. quotes and found out it is on my record, even though his insurance paid for the damages.

When you provide initial information such as name, address, drivers license number, and social security number to an insurance company, the purpose for this information is because they are going to run a dmv check along with a soft credit report check. Upon receipt of the report they have your driving history (well about 6 years of it).

Your accident when you were driving your boyfriend's truck will appear as the driver of that vehicle, but it will list him as the policyholder (it will also list how much was paid out in the accident and it should also demonstrate if it was paid through comp- cp or collision- co or medical- m or pi).

So regardless if you were the policyholder, or not you will still be listed as the driver (since you were driving the truck when the accident happened).

Hope that helps....

It may have been his claim, but it was still your single vehicle at-fault accident.

Sorry.

i here different things like the car insurance is on the car not the person and i here the insurance is on you not the car

Service Charges for Auto Insurance?

I'm getting quoted for auto insurance, one of the quotes has "+service charge", but other cars from the same insurance provider don't have this. Why would auto insurance have a service charge? Is this a normal thing? And if so how much is it normaly? I'm assuming its a % of the quote...

Thanks.

Service charges are usually charged when you are doing the insurance companies payment plan. Mine charges one dollar a month some charge $4 and some $5. Ask the agent they have to explain to you what the service charges are for. What state & what Co???

Oh, I hate this. SOME agencies tack on a "service charge" in addition to the commission they get paid from writing the policy. Some states don't allow it, but some do.

They have to disclose what the service charge covers, and you have to sign off on it. Normally it includes photocopying, record keeping, etc, stuff that an agent would provide, ANYWAY, with no fee.

They do this to make money, flat out. Normally, it's a flat fee - $25, or $50, or even more.

You can always ask them if it's negotiable - most of the time, it's not, as they figure you need them more than they need you.

Because of that attitude, I wouldn't buy my insurance from them.

FOR PAYING BY THE MONTH.

Travelers/ Safeco Auto-Home Insurance - How Reliable and Good ?

Hi Everybody .. I am in CA and paying around $2K yearly for Auto Insurance only . I recently got a quote from Travelers and Safeco Insurance for about 1400 yearly (for Auto and Home) . That is a very good saving but I have not heard much about these insurance companies . Any Ideas on how good and reliable these companies are ? Is Travelers better than safeco or vice versa ..

Any help is greatly appreciated

homeinsurance.awardspace.us - try this one. I just get home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.

Travelers and Safeco are BOTH great insurance companies. I wouldn't hesitate to use either, BUT, if I absolutely had to choose one over the other, I'd go with Travelers.

No particular reason, they're just slightly bigger.

I used to be a claims adjuster for Safeco. Their customer service center is the BEST! I am now an insurance agent for a large company and I have had 2 claims lately that are with Travelers and we have had a terrible time getting them resolved. Just my opinion.

Get an auto insurance quote here: http://dominatingonline.com/auto-insurance

Both are good companies. I am an ins agent and write a lot of business with Safeco. Good rates if you are accident and ticket free

carinsurance.enacre.net - I switched to this car insurance from them, cause it gives much cheaper rates in my area.

Need help with online auto quotes?

My auto insurance is expiring.

I'm looking for quotes online but I don't know how or where to search for the best deal.

I've tried going to farmers.com but the application process is very tedious...I would prefer to get all my quotes from one site. In the past, I've relied on auto insurance brokers but had to pay $200 in brokerage fees.

I don't care for well-known insurance providers. I want a legit company that will provide me with decent coverage for my 05 Corolla.

here's two comparison sites you can use

http://best-american-insurers-free-comparison.servicesarticles.com/a/1.html

http://gsx1.com/Car-Insurance/100.php

betw them they'll compare about 20 main carriers

I can probably assist you with getting several quotes, I just need to know what state you are located in. If you are interested, email me.

I would recommend Country Companies. You might also check out InsWeb.

you can try here: http://www.johnalsopinsurance.com/

Try esurance.com! Multiple companies quoted simultaneously!

Kathy,

I know the feeling because I don't like being spammed or telemarketed for years following a request. This might help:

A guy I ran into at my doctor's office yesterday gave me a flier for insurance and the rate was much lower than what I am paying today. Like about 250/year or so.

I got like 5 quotes and they tell you the lowest company out of them all. Three of them were lower than mine. Best is that the company itself doesn't sell the insurance; they just give you the info on who is the best price, so you know it is real. I would never use the numbers from a company that actually sells the insurance themselves, as I really don't trust their numbers are reality (I am a skeptic, if you haven't noticed).

Some of the quotes you get are from:

Progressive

Esurance

The Hartford

Safeco Insurance

Travelers… and some others.

Here's the link to the website on the flyer:

https://www07.answerfinancial.com/PrimericaLaunch.aspx?a=primerica

You have to enter the code he gave me (he obviously gets some sort of credit for it. I tried to do this without the code and they wouldn't let me....said that since they don't advertise anywhere this was the only way they operate - they said the insurance was not going to be any higher going through this guy than if I could have gotten around him). If you knew someone else that sold this insurance I suppose you could ask them for their code so they would get the credit. The funny thing is the guy doesn't ever deal with you, just gets the credit I guess.

Or you can call their number at 877-855-8111and give them the info:

or website and punch it in.

What is an auto insurance quote?

the amount the company will give you that you will have to pay every month, 3 months, 6 months or year depending on the company

An auto insurance quote is an estimate of how much it will cost to insure you and your vehicle.

It is not a set in stone price, especially quotes done online. You will need to speak with an agent for the specific price for your policy.

It is based on your driving record, where you live, the car you are insuring, and the type of coverage you want.

You ask an insurance company for a rate quote. They will tell you what you insurance will cost you based on your car, your age, your gender, where you live, how much you drive, your credit score, and your driving record. If you give them your social security number, you will get a more accurate quote. It's best to get quotes from a number of different companies (quotes are free). Here's an article that has more details:

http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/cheap-car-insurance.htm

.

When you call or go on an insurance companies website and give them the necessary information they need to tell you how much your insurance payments will be annually or monthly. Then you can shop around with insurance companies to see who will give you the best policy for you!

Can auto insurance companies change price without new incidents?

If I entered all of my accidents/violations on my quote, bought the insurance, etc. Say I'm paying $150 a month, could the auto insurance company call me up and say I need to start paying $420 a month or they will cancel my policy?

My friend said his friend had the exact same thing happen to him. He had a violation on his record, bought his insurance, then they called him up and said they were changing it from about $150 a month to $420 a month.

They don't call you up and say send us a check tomorrow, you are notified weeks ahead that when your policy renews the rates will increase (as long as you didn't lie on the application). I suspect your friend is not telling you the complete story.

normally, insurance companies don't change their quotes on you unless there is a reason.

Like a DUI, or a wet and reckless, or just a plain old reckless driving charge.

If there's nothing on you that you know of, call your insurance company and find out if someone charged your policy with an accident you didn't have, or some other thing.

It can happen, however what was the reason they said for the rate increase. If they do not have a reason then contact whoever regulates insurance companies in your state/province and report the insurer, as this conduct is highly unethical.

Yes, they can do this. Often a less than reputable company will throw you a "teaser" rate to get your business, then once they have you hooked, will raise the rates.

The insurance companies can do what they want to do. Your only option is to change insurance companies.

Yes, insurers can amend the premium at any time.

I got an unbelievably low quote from Response Wordwide Auto Insurance.Should I switch ?

when i add an another car All state increased my premium..now i am looking for an insurance and i got a good quote from 2 companies (esurance and response insurance).which one is better and reliable?

I'd say go for the best deal you get, because when it comes to the crunch you have the same rights by law, regardless of who you are with. However you should Check with your state's insurance department to see if who you choose to go with are licensed to do business.

Try filling a form here http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html

it's one form to get a number of quotes from different insurers. It's free and a big time saver, these are all the main American insurers competing to get your business so you are bound to find something that suits you, if it works out remember my points please :)

dont double up your questions

Sure you should switch. Just don't have an accident. Then you will find why the premiums were so low.

Check the AMBest rating of the company. With AMBest I wouldn't use them unless they have an A- rating or better, that's just me. You want to be sure if there is a disaster, they will have enough financial strength to pay all of the claims, including yours. Then, if they are all rated about the same, check with your State's Insurance Dept to see if there are any consumer complaints & what they were (some people complain about anything so find out what the complaints were & if there was a pattern). If they have a bunch of auto claims paying complaints or bad faith complaints, stay away.

Price doesn't really matter if they are not there when you need them, when you have a claim. At that time, you probably would have paid much more in premiums if you knew that any claim would go smoothly, quickly & would be settled fairly.

try www.21st.com

and ive had issues with previous insurance companies and none with them

i agree with the others they only have low premiums so when you actually have one theyll deny you

What is the best site to list yourself as a candidate for auto insurance to give you a quote (price)?

Make sure it's a trusted site and it gives access to a lot of insurance companies to get the best possible price.

go to insurme.com or insweb.com or netquote.com these are companies that agents use to get leads we pay for them around 10.00 each so be sure to put all info in correct and agents will be calling you with quotes and emailing them to you and you will get some quote instantly where do you live ill do a quote for you if in tenn

Looking in to new Auto Insurance, with country insurnace and financial services?

My boyfriend and I live togeather and have three vehicles, a Mazda Car, Dodge Truck and Yahama Street Bike we both have insurance policys with State Farm and we both are very happy all our insurance policys are seperate The car in my name with my agent the truck in his name with his agent and the st. bike also in his name and then i have a renters insurance policy just in my name. when his work started a 401K with Country Insurance they met with us and went over alot of services they offer and they did up a quote for our auto insurances and renters insurance which put the Mazda and Dodge togeather and both our names on the street bike and renters insurance it was much cheaper then what we pay state farm and we were both very happy with the agent and felt we'd have a good relationship with her... I'm just curiose if anyone has had or has Country insurance for the auto insurance and if they are happy with them?

Hi. I work for state farm, and the reason ti was soo much cheaper there was the fact that they put all of your policies together. You're only costing yourselves massive amount of money that you don't need to.

State farm also has a wide variety of Financial services.

Currently you're both missing the Multi-car discount (his bike and truck aren't getting it either) plus he's not getting the Multi-Line Discount that you're enjoying from your Renters

In California, the Multi-Car is 20% on each car.

The Muli-Line Discount is 10% for the renters.

Contact whichever SF Agent is closer to you and have them transfer all the policies to their office and link them all up.

are the vehicles titled in both your names, like the car in both your names and the truck in both your names?

if you not married and the vehicles are titled separately im not too sure they can put them on a combined policy.

i have never heard of counrty insurance.

The best I have found is Unitrin Direct! They are a company that goes through progressive but offers lower rates! They have a website I think it is www.unitrindirect.com

What's the average state-farm-auto-insurance quote?

For a young woman getting her first car under her name with good grades (good student discount)? I'm trying to find out for a friend getting her first car

$500 a month

No, I am just kidding! But, there is no such thing as an average quote anymore. There are way too many factors, including your state, age, year make and model of car, and whether your parents or a resident relative already has State Farm, etc etc etc. The agent's office is there to help you! If someone you live with has SF already, call their agent and get a quote. Even if you are just shopping, no one but an agent that you contact can give you a true price. Also, there are probably some other discounts that you may be eligible for that they can over with you.

There are way too many variables to answer your question

Whats the difference between limited, broad and regular collison deductibles with insurance?

Whats the difference between limited, broad and regular collison deductibles with insurance?

Trying to get an auto insurance quote, thanks

Limited Collision:

Pays only when the driver of your car is not substantially( more than 50%) at fault in the accident. Limited Collision is the lowest priced of the collision coverages and is available with no deductible.

Standard Collision:

Pays for your damages, less the deductible amount, regardless of who causes the accident. Better protection than Limited Collision at a somewhat higher price. Available deductible options are $100, $250, $500 and $1000.

Broad Form Collision:

Pays for the damages, less deductible amount, for collision damage to the insured vehicle regardless of fault. The deductible will be waived if the driver of your car is not substantially at fault in the accident. Available deductible options are $100, $250, $500 and $1000. Broadened Collision is the best of the collision options, but is more expensive than either Limited or Standard.

No Collision Coverage:

If you do not purchase collision coverage, the company will not pay collision damage to the insured vehicle.

Where can I find good deals on auto insurance?

instant, online quotes for auto insurance

There are several free services that give you online quotes from several companies that you can compare. Here is a page that lists a few of them...

www.Statefarm.com

Geico

www.geico.com, www.progressive.com, and www.allstate.com. With progressive they will compare auto insurance and give you the best price for your $$ at least that's what they say. However, I find American family to be the best and the cheapest they have always helped me and I believe you can go to www.americanfamily.com for that one but I'm not sure.

If I’m shopping around for auto insurance (Quick Auto Quote) – is this going to lower my credit score?...?

If I’m shopping around for auto insurance (Quick Auto Quote) â€" is this going to lower my credit score? - as far as I know â€"the auto insurer is checking the credit score......

....you know what I mean !?..........

Insurance companies do not pull your credit. It will not affect your score. And when you are shopping around for a vehicle for every three inquiries from auto dealers it only counts as one because they know that people need to shop around and get the best deal. It's not like credit cards where every one you apply for counts as an inquiry.

It has no effect on your credit score....they will check your credit score to see if you have credit for insurance. Thats all.

Hope this helped

The only thing that would affect your credit score is if a company runs a credit check on you. Usually, the insurer is not going to check your credit score but your driver score.

If you lookin for some real cheap insurance get the dollar a day insurance $365.00 a year!

They do check your credit score but it is an insurance score which is a "soft" hit and does not appear on your credit report.

Auto Insurance Quote question?

What does the 250/500/100 liability coverage on the premium policy mean?

Here's the auto insurance quote:

1999 Honda Accord LX [ assume a 20 year old male with Good Student Discount and Accident - Free for 3 years]

Quote:

Premium with Comprehensive and Collision ($500 deductible) With Multicar and Multiline Discount

1999 HONDA ACCORD TERR:003

,AFD3YR, VSD2

RG:04 CL:5B GS - PREM

BIPD 250/500/100 = $284.74

WITH P1

PIP P4 = $4.00

COMP $500 DED = $52.79

COLL $500 DED = $162.39

ERS = $2.60

R1 80%/500 = $11.60

U 250/500 =$19.40

S 1 AT 5000 =$1.20

NEW PREMIUM =$538.72

--------------------------------------...

If you can't read the above, then what's 250/500/100 liability coverage on a premium policy mean?

250/500/100 means $250,000 per person bodily injury/$500,000 per accident bodily injury and $100,000 property damage. This is liability which means damage you cause to others. So, if you have an at fault accident and there are injuries and property damage, your policy will pay up to $250,000 per person for their bodily injury no matter how many people are injured (it looks like you are in a PIP state which pays the medical bills so this would likely not include medical depending on the PIP limits). Your policy will pay up to $500,000 in bodily injury total per accident no matter how many people are injured. They will also pay up to $100,000 in property damage no matter how many vehicles are damaged (or building, pole, etc).

Liability: This is essentially claims made against you for bodily injury or property damage. "250/500/100" is "split limit coverage". Means 250 per limit person; 500 aggregate limit per incident, and 100 property damage.

Where Do I Find Quotes For Non-Owners Auto Insurance?

I Need It Cheap, Fast, And In Denver,CO.!!!!!!!!!!!!

www.progressive.com You can do this right on the website 24 hrs a day, BUT & this is a HUGE BUT, if you have regular access to a vehicle (owned by someone in your household or your significant other's vehicle) whether you drive it or not, you will not be eligible for a nonowners policy with Progressive. If this is the case, you may have to go to your State's assigned risk pool - it may be possible to get it there. If you are not sure, call an independent agent.

Just so you know, it may very well be CHEAPER to insure a vehicle with liability only than to purchase a nonowners policy. At least that has been my experience.

When i request auto insurance quote, why do they check my credit file?

Because you auto insurance rate is partially based on your credit rating. The better the credit rating, the lower the insurance rate. It's stupid, but another way for them to increase the rate. It's based on the theory that people with good credit ratings are more responsible and thus less likely to have an accident. There may be some actuarial truth to this.

When you get an insurance quote they do pull at least two reports ~ a credit report and believe it or not we all have an auto insurance report that insurance companies look at ~ it's contents is similar to DMV because it contains some of your driving history (I'm not sure as to what exactly it contains) and similar to the credit report a score is formulated to determine your risk factor ~ the most popular one that I know of is Choice Trust

I believe that they may check your credit file as a form of identification ~ also insurance rates are higher for the city and state you live

They view poor credit ratings as a sign of being irresponsible and therefore an insurance risk.

Mountain said it right on!

Responsibility is not easily measured but credit rating is a pretty good indicator don't ya think?

It's pretty simple. The insurance companies have statistics showing that people who don't pay their bills get into more car accidents and have more claims filed by and against them. It's the same reason young drivers receive higher insurance rates; they are higher risk drivers.

Matters you state.

Every state has different rating guidelines so I wouldn't be able to give you an estimated view on this.

For Florida,

If you have good FR(or Credit), I would recommend State Farm, Metlife or Nationwide.

If your FR(Credit) is below average, I would recommend contacting a local independant insurance agency with numerous different companies.

Hope this helps.

Are there any auto insurance providers that do not use credit problems against you to make rates higher?

I just had to switch auto insurance providers, and since I have credit problems due to credit card debt, anyone I have checked with uses my bad credit against me for insurance quotes. My driving record is excellent, and I am trying to find an insurance company who will insure me according to my driving record, and not my credit rating.

Geico is the only one I know of.

Allstate?

None. It has been scientifically determined that your responsibility with credit is a good indicator of your overall responsibility. Are you a responsible person. Tell the truth.

Geico doesn't raise your rates due to credit- I have them and I have horrible credit- I am even filing for bankruptcy. The # is 1-800-947-AUTO I have been with them for years but even when I started I had bad credit and my rates were low then too.

I'm not sure where you live but there are certain smaller companies that do not use your credit as a bases for insurance. I don't know where you are but I do know in Florida if you go into a Trustway or Apple insurance office, they will be able to find a company that will do that for you. Bear in mind that because they do not use your credit these companies are not the best, they are slow to make claims and will drop you the second you lie or make a mistake. I believe that Trustway insurance is available in the south east part of the US and even in TX.

Hope I helped

Maybe Geico or Progressive.

i know isn't that ridiculous !!!! Same with employers being

able to access your credit.

Geico is the best........

When getting an auto insurance quote, can you lie?

if you lie to get discounts, can they find out and do anything? i'm about to buy new insurance, and they ask if you had any violations in the past 6 months, and i do, but if i skip that part, can i get in trouble? also do they do a background check if you say your a good student when you don't go to school at all?

You shouldn't lie about stuff like violations. They will run an MVR on you when the agent writes the policy and the underwriters will catch it. You will also need to provide your grades for the good student discount otherwise you will not get it.

What you're talking about is called fraudulent misrepresentation or simply "misrep" in insurance jargon.

First off, don't bother about lying about accidents or tickets. All insurance companies will check your driving record. So, maybe they'd quote you a lower price but you'd get a notification in the mail in a week telling you that you are cancelled or you have a new rate.

Misrep is one of the most common ways for an insurance company to get out of paying a claim. During their claims investigation they are looking specifically for any lies you've told them that you can't keep straight. Usually they're looking for business use, someone that delivers pizzas or uses their car for a taxi but they're trained to look and inquire about everything. If they find something you've lied about, guess what? You've got no insurance for the accident. All of the money you've paid them was for nothing. Insurance is important, it's really not all just a racket to get money out of you. Get in a wreck without insurance and have fun dealing with the other guy's insurance company and attorneys and of course, the law on your own.

Don't lie. It is misrepresentation - a form of insurance fraud. It may seem like little insignificant things but most companies will ask for proof for certain discounts.

As far as the violations in the past 6 months, that you can say no but the information will come up on your Motor Vehicle Report because all violations with your driver's license are compiled on this report. However, if you tell an agent about a violation or enter it online, the insurance company has to surcharge you for it even if it is not on your report.

A lot of times, it's best to get a quote through an agent for accuracy. An agent can tell you about discounts for your state that may not be online.

Hope this helps!

Of course you can lie!!! Why not? You'll get quoted a pretty decent premium and once all your underwriting reports are ran, such as your Motor Vehicle Report, Prior Insurance, etc your rates will skyrocket. Then you'll most likely have to find a cheaper rate elsewhere and you'll be charged a short-rate or early cancellation fee. Or, the insurance company will just void your insurance policy and you'll be driving around with no insurance. In the end you're just wasting money. Keep in mind that ALL insurance companies have a clause that states any fraudulent, misleading or withheld information can/will result in a voidance of your auto policy.

You can't lie about any violations. They have a way of checking it out. My insurance company pulled up my driving records and asked me if I had ever been in a car accident because it showed up on my record. I had no idea what they were talking about because I have never been in an accident that was filed with my insurance company, let alone been in one in my own vehicle.. so they marked it off as it wasn't me, but they do have their ways of finding out. Now lying about some kind of alarm you have on your car is nothing big (its a discount w/some insurance places).. how will they know..

What do you think? Sure you can lie. They may find out right away, they may not find out until you have to make a claim - and that's when YOU'LL find out that your insurance is void because you provided fraudulent information.

honesty is the best policy. if you lie and they find out, youre screwed more than if you had just told them the truth in the first place.. be truthful, it wont kill you

you can lie about anything but you will get caught and they will cancel the insurance they will do a background check

They will find out when they run your driver's license. It will show up anyway. Tell the truth.

Who has the best quotes for auto insurance?

looking to find a more reasonable insurance policy any suggestions

Try to visit this website which I just came accross, I've found a lot of useful information on Auto Insurance Quotes :

http://the-auto-insurance-quotes.blogspot.com

Farmers isn't the cheapest, but they offer the best service -especially when you need it.

There are so many variables companies use to quote, it is impossible to say who will be cheaper for you. The cheapest company for me could be the most expensive for you.

Try a non-biased quote site like http://www.netquote.com you fill out a form and 3 or 4 agents will call you back with quotes. Or you can always pull out the yellow pages and call a few local agents in your area.

Try Progressive for comparative rates.

Well, there are lots of companies online that you could get a free car insurance quote rate. You just fill-up the form and then compare it among the others. There are certain factors in getting your cheap car insurance. Depends on the car, state, age, driving record, etc.

Don't go with sports cars and new model cars. They have expensive auto insurance.

Good luck on your search... Drive safe... :)

Girlfriend as spouse for auto insurance?

What could happen to me if I claim my girlfriend as my spouse on my auto insurance quote to get a better quote?

You're committing insurance fraud, which companies prosecute with a vengeance! Don't do it.

Depends on the company. Some companies dont even check. If you have been living together for a certain amount of time, then you can try to get the policy under "common law marriage" which is living together (CA is 5 or more years) for a set period of time but never tied the knot. The company will give you the married discount, but most companies want to see proof of marriage if the last names are different. If you add a spouse that is not really your spouse and you dont have proof, you could be subject to insurance fraud which is a minimum fine of $20,000 and/or 1 year in jail. If it is just a quote and you havent done it yet, then there is nothing wrong with that. A quote is just a quote.

Why would you lie about that to save money, knowing when (if) you have an accident - they will figure it out and you have just wasted all your premiums. The best thing to do is tell the truth - otherwise, you don't need to buy insurance.

If you live with your girlfriend, call them up and ask if they have a "significant other" arrangement. You might just get the same benefit by being honest.

It wont matter if you claim her to be wife, sister, girlfriend or mother. It all counts as the same, she is a driver on the policy, end of story. In Texas you dont save money by having more than one driver, only more than one car.

Well, if you ever break up, you won't be able to take her off your policy without a divorce decree. Which you can't get.

Which is a good website to get an online auto insurance quote?

and which company has cheap rates

allstate.com has amazing coverage and is user-friendly

geico.com - is a good bet for reasonable quotes

Progressive.com - they not only give you their quote, but they compare themselves to other people, wether they beat their price or not

Esurance.com - cuts out the middleman, affordable insurance for all

I prefer Geico myself, but its because I drive a motorcycle.

Geico.com I've had them for 7 years and have a very good price for auto insurance.

I recommend this website - it has lots of tips, links, advice and info about everything to do with auto insurance.

It pays to shop around online - make sure you get more than one quote and keep going until you get something that suits you.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

www.geico.com, www.statefarm.com

I bet you see every Payless shoe store advertisement they throw at you. But Progressive and Geico just float right over your head.

Geico.com ....great rates great company, had em for years..

Shopping for Auto Insurance Online, is it Safe?

I have had my identity stolen and now I am very sceptical of shopping online for anything. I am looking to try to save money on my auto insurance by shopping around but can only find companies who want to give me a free online auto insurance quote. People aren't aware that during this online process you must enter your social security number, and all your personal informaion online. That is Crazy!!!

Do people really think that this is SAFE way to shop for auto insurance?

Stick with the major carriers websites. Avoid web sites not associated with a major carrier that offer comparative quotes. The quotes you receive will be estimates and the result will be that the policy will not be issued at the price that was quoted.

You might also look to be sure you are on a secured site. look for "https" in the URL.

P.S. Are you secure in your knowledge of the appropriate coverages. Lots more to auto insurance than price. Speaking of pricing you might also passing up a hefty multi policy discount by shopping your auto insurance apart from your homeowners insurance.

If you're going straight to a company website, like www.progressive.com, it's safe. If you're going through a "rate comparison" service, well, they're harvesting your information, to sell it to agents as leads.

No one charges for auto quotes. They are ALWAYS free. AND, your rates are based on your CREDIT score, so that's why you have to enter that stuff in.

The SAFEST way, is to shop in person, at a local, independent agent's office. You give them the information, they give you quotes with a dozen different companies.

Hello,

We often take for granted what a convenience our cars are. I was paying a low price for my insurance, but at renewal time, my insurer tried to increase my rates.

My friend sent me a link to this site:

http://www.mortgage-and-rent-help.org

They have a free search to compare auto rates from the major insurers. It saved me a lot of money!

Have you ever been asked, while seeking auto insurance quotes, (details)?

...whether or not you're in the habit of letting Jesus take the wheel?

Not once!! Guess I'm not in good hands....lol.

@>}----}----

AD

nope!

Hypnozilla - that is a good one - ROFL.

No I haven't but I hadn't thought of volunteering the information either.

Not exactly, but when I started college as a green freshman still wet behind the ears, I was asked to state my religious preference, and I, being a Lutheran in those days, put down "Lutheran" and had the resulting misfortune of receiving a ton of literature from the local Lutheran churches.

The second year, when I was asked the same question, and then not wanting to receive any literature, put down "Druid, reformed. We also worship bushes."

I am happy to report that the mountain of religious literature ceased.

Hail Druids

Lady Morgana )0(

lmfao..I cant say that i have. Since I dont..is that a discount..or a penalty?

Yes, as a matter of fact. Every time I seek an insurance quote, I'm asked this question! It must be standard on the insurance forms.

Yes ossifer, Jesus is my dezignated deriver!

There you see you have exposed a fallacy. Just because the commercial airline pilot is very religious doesn't mean he will defer to Jesus to land the plane. Auto insurance companies assume likewise, that you're not a nut case. That said, there are religious nut cases, as we unfortunately know all too well, that will defer to Jesus (well, Allah actually, same difference). But they are the exception, not the rule. Believe me, if insurance companies thought there was even a small percentage of risk, you can bet your bottom dollar they would ask you that question.

No, but I was asked once if I have my statue of Jesus, sitting on the dash, looking out the windshield watching for traffic or turned around watching me drive!

Yep.

and question 32; "will god be your co-pilot"?

Luckily they didn't ask about my dashboard Jesus.

Auto insurance quotes?!?!?! please help!!!!?

i need a rough estimate and i really dont feel like typing in my information online and getting a real quote lol i just want a real rough quote with average coverage. if anyone could help that would be great. insurance for a new driver with good grades better than B's and all that junk. the car is a 2003 cadillac deville DTS with like 101,000 miles on it. anything could help!!!!! :)

I recommend an online insurance quote. It's free and quick to do. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html

Good Luck!

Go find an independent agent in your area, and give him your information (no typing required by you). He will then look through his data base of companies, find a few that meet your needs, and give you the costs.

Nobody here can give you an estimate like that. There are so many factors that can make a big difference in your rate. The ONLY way you can find out is to "feel like" typing in your information online. Why not? It's easy, fast, and free.

To Be honest,It will take a little time to find the answer for the question of yours.have a look at the resource here http://www.CarInsuranceTip.info/free-car-insurance.htm for your reference .

No ne can give you an estimate like that on here. Suck it up and go online for a quote. There are too many variables here we don't know. What state, your age, driving record, how much coverage, car paid off or not.....

Hi, try to check this site, maybe it can helped you..

For auto insurance the most efficient way to get a good quote is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same limits, car type, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.

What I always recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and will give multiple quotes on car insurance polices.

Why would auto insurance company ask if I have a platinum credit card? Is having one a good or bad thing. I do

I recently applied for an auto insurance quote through AAA insurance. During the questionaire, I was asked whether I have any platinum credit cards. I currently have a car insured through them, and I am concerned whether they could used quote questionair info against me on my current policy. I was trying to get a quote on a new car that I am considering.

They are trying to find out how creditworthy you are. Most insurers use some sort of rating scale or risk scale for people based upon credit scores. People with lower scores will pay more for insurance because the companies seem to think that they pose more risk.

Most likely they are conducting market research for future sales products - possibly even the correlation between AAA towing plans sales and platinum card holders.

Don't worry about this affecting your quote. If they want to know your credit, they will not waste their time asking you for it - they will simply get a credit rating on you from Experian or the other big 2 rating agencies.

That makes no sense. Credit scores are often used in rating, but your credit score has nothing to do with platinum cards. You can have terrible credit and still have a 'platinum' card.

Maybe they were trying to cross market you. I'm not sure if they are involved in the credit card business (AAA dips in alot of strange business). Maybe they were looking for you to get a credit card with them.

Credit cards are a bad idea. Pay cash for everything except maybe a house; that is how people become wealthy, if that's important to you. Always shop around. Amica may be ok, if you have a good driving record. Mercury is who I have because my history is ok but not the best. It can vary based on where you live.

ya i also agree that they might want to cross sell u some other credit cards... especially the bank backed insurance company. gosh!

Is it possible to take out a Canadian auto insurance quote without being a citizen?

I am an english citizen studying in Canada for the next 2 years with hopes to stay and live here, is it possibel to take out an insurance policy without being a citizen? and is it possible to pay with a credit card registered in England?

Thanks

carquotes.fateback.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

It depends on what province you live in. Most provinces require that you change your license within 90 days of moving to the province. If you have not done this then technically you are driving without a valid license, so your insurance won't be valid. So if you're in a province that is 100% privately run (Ontario, Alberta, Maritimes), then you may have a hard time finding an insurer who will be willing to insure you at a reasonable rate. If you're in a province with government run insurance (B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan), then you'll have an easier time of it, however you'll still need to change your license over. Regardless of which province you're in, you will need a letter of experience from your insurer in England or else you would only qualify for base rate/new driver rate.

If your credit card is a Visa or Mastercard then I do not see any problem whatsoever using it here. If the credit card company (not the institution that issued it) is something unique to the U.K. or Europe then you may want to test it a store first to ensure it works.

Has anyone had personal experience with Progressive Auto Insurance?

I have gotten several auto insurance quotes. Progressive is one of the lowest. But the lowest does not always equal the best service when an accident happens. Thank you for your answers.

I have been a claims adjuster for 20 years and trust me Progressive has the best claim servicve of any insurance company.

In June of 2005 I was rear-ended by a progressive policyholder. I reported the claim to their home office and was told that a local adjuster would call me within 2 hrs to discuss the loss. They called me in approx 90 minutes. We agreed he could come and inspect the car the following morning. He called me from the parking lot and asked if I wanted to be there when he wrote the estimate, I declined as I written enough estimates over the years to know what he would include. When I went out for lunch there was a copy of the estimate, the check and info on how to get a rentasl car on the seat.

They paid my claim in less than 24 hours and I'm not aware of any other company that can actually pull that off.

I agree to you that the cheapest is not always the best....i suggest to get more options search for more quotes try sites like this http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com for easy and fast search....

i hope that would help you on your search...

There all the same. you're going to get screwed. So you might as well get the lowest price.

According to a friend whose cars are insured through Progressive, it's a decent company, and they have actual people (not recordings) answer your calls when you have a question or concern. I use Mercury, it's cheap but it's a hassle dealing with them. It's almost impossible to talk to a real human being when you have an issue.

i had progressive and they handled my claim pretty fast and had a good experience with them but i changed to american family to save $400 a year.

Picking one of the largest companies is always good. Plus, they are very fast with thier claims service and its not impossible to get in hold with your adjuster (some companies it seems you can NEVER reach them!)

We had Progressive for several years, and they never gave us a problem. We had it because of our motorhome. It is good covereage, but you pay for it as well. We switched to a better price insurance, but had to compromise on some of the motorhome coverage to do so. We never had any accidents, so I cannot tell you about how well or badly they pay up.

Progressive is a good insurance company, they usually have a local adjuster in the area you live so if thier is an accident they are usually pretty quick to settle the claim, to see if they are really the lowest auto quote check out globalwideinsurance. com

I no dumb question,insurance quotes/auto&home?

I know there will be LOT of insurance people out there ready to start quoting. If you are honest & your name alone speaks volumes. I need really good insuranc . my Insurace went sky high on me on both. Car & home. Had insurance with them since 70's.I nne free quotes bad. EASY ones. I dont understand legal mumbo jumbo. Thank ya'.!

Well, if it went sky high, there's a reason for that. It's time to shop around. Your BEST bet is to find a local, independent agent - because not all companies write in all states.

Also, unless you're in CA, the premiums are now dependent on YOUR CREDIT SCORE. So you'll have to give VERY personal information out to someone, to get quotes. And you're more likely to be happy doing that in person, and not over the internet.

well its hard to quote something without any info. call an independent agent and they can do quotes for you in your area with a lot of different companies.

For more answer. Please see in www.articles-project.blogspot.com(dot com)

May be help you. Thank you.

Is it OK to lie about being married to get a lower auto insurance rate?

My insurer gives me a much lower auto insurance quote if I say that I'm married. I could say that my imaginary partner doesn't even drive. Are there any consequences to listing myself as married? Can it come back to bite me?

No. They will catch you sooner or later.

First of all in the state of Missouri they check to see who even lives in the residence and I have had to pay higher premiums because of roommates that did not even drive my car. Who is this agent? yes I disagree that married people are safer drivers as are women. How often do you see a woman driving a SUV while talking on the phone, putting on makeup with a busload full of children is that safer??? Also I have known of several couples getting into arguments and one storms out and is mad and then ends up in an acident and even getting killed. Even thought this os not legal I dont think what they the insurance providers are doing are so legal either. We all need to ban together against them!

They wont really investigate it until they need to. Which means that you would have to get into an accident and that is when you get into trouble... So yes, it will come back to bite you very very very hard!

Well if you get into an accident they usually do everything they can to not have to pay up, so they will find out you aren't married and probably won't cover your accident costs

First it would invalidate your insurance, Second it is called fraud.

It is sufficient cause to avoid paying any claim you might have under the policy.

That would be insurance fraud and it is very illegal.

i'm pretty sure thats illegal :p

You should ask your conscious.

Sure it is, if you'd like to be in jail for fraud. :)

Nope, its Fraud

yes

How much do you pay for auto insurance?

I just spent a few hours getting an auto insurance quote from a number of companies. I got a real good rate ($573 for a whole year) for our 2004 car and all the extras.

I think this is a pretty good rate but wonder if others are paying more or less.

How much are you paying?

Try to check this out. An auto insurance company, i heard to offer good coverage.

That rate depends on what the policy you chose covers you for.

I think the first thing to do is to check your state for the mandatory insurance requirements and start from there.

If you want to lower the cost and you know you are a good driver, you should try lowering your deductible, asking for discounts (good driver, safety features, etc) and picking the type of coverage you want wisely.

I'm not sure this is a great forum for comparing your rates to others. Someone who lives in NYC is going to pay alot more than someone in Boise, Idaho (more cars = more accidents) Also, your vehilce is surely different than what other people drive so you are not going to be comparing oranges to oranges. (Also everyone has different coverages and deductibles)

All things considered $573 for a year seems like a pretty low number. I would just double-check that you have sufficient coverages.

You may want to contact a local independent agent to make sure you are not getting covered for less than you expect.

I live in Houston, Tx and I am a 22 year old male. I pay $140 a month for a 2008 Honda Civic EX.

It seems like the rate you got is really cheap but I am not sure where you live. Insurance rates vary greatly depending on where you live. It's good that you are doing your research though that way you can find the best rate possible.

It definitly helps to shop around. I was paying twice as much as I am now; including car and homeowner's insurance.

$90 a month for a 2007 Ford Focus.

Is there any auto insurance quotes i can get online w/o having an insurance agent calling me ??

There are many websites that can get you a quote online and a couple have been mentioned here. However, an independent insurance agent can research multiple companies and find the best policy at the best premium for your particular circumstances instead of trying to use a one size fits all approach. In addition when you use online or 800 number companies, you will never be able to talk to the same person twice and will have no one to advocate on your behalf or even explain the nuances of why a particular plan or policy limit might be better than another. I suggest getting references from friends or family members about local agents so that you can get the best possible service and rate!

Sure but why... even if you sign up on line and get a binder, the company is STILL going to call you to confirm things and fill in the blanks that the on line form skips.

If you then get a different quote you may not keep the policy in which case you have wasted your time.

Better to do the Q&A first, get a firm quote, and get it over with.

Try GEICO. they are fairly easy and the prices are not bad.

.

GEICO & Progressive

Esurance and Progressive.

Sure, Progressive will quote you online - they actually email your quote back to you, or you can get an instant quote - but they won't call you.

If I fill in a online Auto Insurance quote ,give them information like my SS# am I at risk for Idenity Theft?

If I fill in a online Auto Insurance quote ,give them information like my Social Security number and the rest of my personal information that I am I asked for online am I putting myself at risk for Identity Theft?

Hello Beth,

No, it's not particularly common that your identity is stolen by requesting on auto insurance quote online but the risk that it could happen, and the subsequent consequences, are enormous, so, why take the chance. What is very common, and very annoying, after completing an online insurance form are numerous unwanted solicitations.

In order to receive an accurate auto insurance quote personal information including your social security number is required. A much safer alternative is to contact a local insurance agent, in person or on the phone, and provide them with the information necessary for an accurate quote. Be sure and ask a few questions of your own first before providing personal information. How long have you been in business and how will you safeguard my personal information are totally appropriate questions.

Usually you are not legally compelled to provide your Social Security number to private businesses unless you are involved in a transaction in which the Internal Revenue Service requires notification. The Patriot Act requires financial institutions to verify customers' identities, which can involve the SSN.

There is no law, however, that prevents businesses from requesting your SSN, and there are few restrictions on what businesses can do with it. But even though you are not legally required to disclose your SSN, the business does not have to provide you with service if you refuse to release it. So in a sense, you are strong-armed into giving your SSN. This is often the case when applying for insurance and opening utility accounts.

But don't give up. Be sure to ask if there is an alternate number that you can provide to the company, such as your driver's license number. Also ask if you can provide a deposit rather than giving your SSN to the company.

------------------------

Generally they only ask if they are looking to run your credit report, which most insurance companies will do when evaluating you for coverage.

If the site's URL begins with https, it's supposed to be secure against hackers, but there's always the risk of someone at the other end getting the info and using it. I'd pass on doing that online and use the phone. Plus, you don't know if the web site is using current rates for a given company, especialy those that compare several companies.

Good question.

Anytime you fill out online information you are at risk. One bad employee in a company can ruin your credit.

If anyone asks for your SS# while shopping for insurance, just tell then NO THANKS. They want to run your credit report (which has nothing to do with driving)

Call my source below. They don't run your credit report.

Most larger companies have a secure http, yet with todays hackers your always at risk, no matter precautions you take.

No. But what happens, is the information gets sold to agents, as leads. So it isn't private.

Under your circumstance,I suggest here http://www.InsuranceFreeTip.info/insurance-for-free.htm for you to have a visit.
